ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS
UNIONDALE, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK

2024: Argyle Avenue was an issue for a long time. The road is 1753.32ft long, or a little over a mile. Utility companies severely damaged the roadway and excessive wear and tear from motorists. Usually, how it works is when there is an issue, the utility company digs up the section of the street impacted. They fix it, temporarily patching the road work, and make sure no corrections are needed. Well, from the photos, you can see they didn't do a great job. That, plus the large chunks of road and temporary patches, created an uneven surface. It took about two years of advocacy to get this roadway project complete. Between constant back and forth with elected officials and the Engineering Department, I got the road repaved. Completing this project closed out the fourth roadway improvement in four years and brought hundreds of thousands of dollars crossing the million dollar mark for my advocacy.
2023:The Newport Road restoration in Uniondale was officially completed after two years of advocating. On behalf of the community, a long-term community issue was resolved and 1181.54 meters or 0.73 miles was repaved. At the time of this project, another roadway project with a significant overlay of the community was in the final stages. However, it did not include NewPort Road or some surrounding streets. Thanks to a prior road survey from a few years earlier, I made the case that this has been a long-standing issue and has gotten worse. The roadway improvements gave this street a restored look and the residents a better quality of life.
BALDWIN, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK
BEFORE: Coes Neck Road
AFTER: Coes Neck Road
2021: Coes Neck Road was my first major roadway project. Getting this road repaved meant a lot to me. During my recovery from open heart surgery, I told myself when I got better, I would focus on giving back to my community. Coes Neck Road is in the neighborhood I grew up in and has been depleted for as long as I can remember. I made a lot of memories on that street. This project was a crash course in becoming a community advocate. When I started, I didn't know who to contact or which jurisdiction it fell into. It was a lot of trial and error, but I learned a lot. The results revitalized the area and gave the neighborhood a complete facelift. The picture on the home page shows part of the finished product.
The Town of Hempstead fixed the 2.6-mile roadway and helped me lean toward giving back to the community by finding other issues to address; the project helped me keep my promise and delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars in community improvements.
VILLAGE OF HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK
BEFORE: Harold Avenue
AFTER: Harold Avenue
BEFORE: Harold Avenue
AFTER: Harold Avenue
2022: Harold Avenue was the second and largest major roadway I got repaired at a mile and a half. Getting this roadway improved was different from the other streets I advocated for. The interesting thing about Harold Avenue is it connects two major roadways( Baldwin Road and Nassau Road) and is part of the Village of Hempstead so it’s a different governing body. Most of the advocacy was directed towards the mayor’s office and the reaching out to the department of Public Works for updates. The project was completed in two different phases with the first half of the road being completed first. This project revitalized the neighborhood and improved the look of the community.
